Watching the Aratiatia Rapids be filled | Vlog extra

We lucked out and happened to be at the Aratiatia Dam when it opened.

This floods the valley below creating rapids, it was incredible to watch.

These rapids were used by weta when filming hobbit as they are reliable for repeat shooting as the open the gates every few hours.
