Grand Theft Auto Drinking Game

If anyone knows where I can buy a tank, I want a tank!

Having a bit of a rummage around in some of my unposted drinking games, I realised that one of the classic had managed to somehow get missed until now.

When this drinking game was created it was based on GTA 3, when the games wanted system was based on the star system. However due to its simple nature it does work just as well with the GTA 4 wanted system.

This game is based on the classic 30-second tick style of game. In this type of game a sound is played every 30 seconds, which signals people having to take a drink.

As always with my drinking games, when I refer to a ‘Drink’ I personally have a solid gulp of beer so that I can enjoy my gaming for longer, but you all know your own drinking limits so it’s up to you what you choose to drink.

If you don’t have your own sound file you can download one of these two MP3’s to use – pick the one that best fits your drinking limits

  • Sonic Ring: 30 Second Drink Timer (Download)
  • Mario Life: 60 Second Drink Timer (Download)

Rules

The players each take it in turns to control the main character. While in control their goal is a simple one to gain a wanted level as fast as possible and to keep it for as long as they can.

Every time the sound is played, as long as the controller has a wanted level, everyone else in the room takes a drink. Optional Rule: Increase the number of drinks based on the wanted level (eg. 1 drink per star)

The player loses their turn at the controls if they are Busted, Dies, Clears their wanted level or otherwise hits the end of their turn (when using the MP3’s above there is a special ending sound)  at which point someone else has to take control and the sounder restarted.

We have played this on many games nights and have to say that this is definitely a Heavy drinking game to say the least but also great fun.
