A Week In #DailySong’s (28/2/10)

Kerrigan - Queen of Blades
She may be a more mutant than human by now, but there is just something attractive about the Queen of Blades

Well that demonic chipmunk has been at it again, this week has just flown by.

I’ve had so much to do in the last week that I am not quite sure how I managed to get it all to fit in. If I’m going to be honest I’m also not entirely sure I did, something is bound to come back and bite me on the ass next week.

One good bit of news for me was that my StarCraft 2 beta key finally arrived – my god have I been waiting for this game for a very long time.

I will hold back on much of my opinion as I am covering it in the march issue of Thirteen1, however I will say one thing so far it will be a positive reception – I’m loving it

I still haven’t got to grips with the new units yet and I am still having my ass handed to me on a regular basis but even in defeat I’m still having fun.

In less gaming news on Saturday I became an Uncle again for the 7th time. The older of my two younger brother just welcomed his first child, a boy, into the world. Being the oldest of 4 kids most people seem surprised when they hear that of the 4 siblings, I am the only one not to have any offspring yet.

Personally I don’t find it that weird, I see absolutely no reason to rush such things – not to say it will never happen, hell I have a collection of consoles in cupboards waiting for when it does. My offspring will have a real gaming education and work their way from the Atari2600 to the MegaDrive and beyond in the way it should be done.

Anyway moving on from that subject promptly, never one to temp fate, Lets look at the weeks #DailySong output shall we?

Monday: Dragonforce – Fury of the Storm (http://song.ly/2jeff)

My office play list is a real bag of all kinds of wonderful stuff. It can switch from Black Sabbath to The Dandy Warhols to Massive Attack without even blinking.

There is now so much on there I have even forgotten half of it, this track was one of them. When I start my music in the morning I always hit the next button a few times to get a truly random track. When I didn’t do that I found it would bring up a few tracks repeatedly.

Anyway this track played first today and the bloody thing would not leave my head at all, despite how fast it is it kept popping back up.

Tuesday: Zerg 1 – From StarCraft (http://song.ly/2jeid)

Well this one was a very simple choice. When I opened my mail, right at the very top was the mail I had waited months for – My StarCraft 2 Beta Key. So long have I waited for this game and so happy I was to see it.

So my mind wasn’t really willing to move on to anything but this game for much of the day, so it bled over into the #DailySong as well. After a quick search of song.ly I managed to stumble across some of the background music from the original game.

This is one of the Zerg tracks and is really good.

Wednesday: Queen – Under Pressure (http://song.ly/2jent)

Wednesday was just on of those days were everything was getting on top of me. So many tasks popped up that all managed to demand my time – then I added to that a realisation of how much I had to do for the rest of the week.

Thankfully noticing the amount of work I had on made the #DailySong pick itself, as almost without hesitation this track popped into the back of my mind.

Thursday: Failure ()

FAILURE – there is no other word for it. Not only did I miss a day again this week, I also failed to notice that I had done so until started putting this round-up together.

I thought I had done it in the morning, because I knew I would be busy in the afternoon due to the fact that the guys from TLBB were coming to visit us. However it seems I was wrong, oh well at least the visit went well.

Friday: Seek & Destroy – Sickness (http://song.ly/2jevb)

All this week I have fought a cold, I hate giving in to these things. However when I got out of bed on Friday it had won. I felt like absolute hell and there was no way I would be able to focus even if had made it to the office.

So instead I just curled up on the sofa and pumped myself full of Lemsip & Strepsils. In between naps I thought I should do a #DailySong and this track was a discovery from song.ly – will look up more of their stuff next week I think, its not bad.

Saturday: The Takeaways – Food (http://song.ly/2jf1y)

The cold was still winning on Saturday – so more relaxing in front of the TV. Now when I’m in the mood for chill-out TV there is only two things that seem to fill the role. Discovery channel shows like, How its made or Industrial Revelations or more often any cooking show.

I can cook rather  well when I want too and I don’t know what it is, as I’ve never used anything I’ve seen in any of these shows but I love watching them.

Sunday: Open Space – Busy (http://song.ly/2jf2x)

This one was very quickly done. By losing two days to the Cold that means that today I have a lot of stuff that I need to write-up.

To make sure that this blog was done, I decided to do most of this round-up at the end of Saturday, then just after it officially became today did my #DailySong so that I could finish it up as well and queue it for a delayed auto publishing.

Knowing how busy I’m going to be today I had to pick a matching #DailySong

Well despite trying not to miss a day again this week, I failed. Well there is always next week I guess.

Till Next Week
